About Interkal

Our History

Back in 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the Horn Brothers designed their first retractable bleachers. From these bleachers would grow the industry-leading manufacturer of retractable and fixed seating, Interkal. In 1952, the Brunswick Company purchased the bleacher line from the Horn Brothers and relocated manufacturing to what’s now Interkal’s hometown. Kalamazoo, Michigan.

In 1987, Interkal was welcomed into the Kotobuki Group. The Kotobuki Group is a global leader in seating solutions, with over 100 years in the industry. Manufacturing takes place all over the globe, including the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

Our production is streamlined with laser cutting and robotic welding of standard components, and it’s also nimble enough to design and produce special parts for unique applications.

Our Goal

Interkal strives to be ahead of the curve and push our industry forward. Product development is a major component of this, and we work closely with dealers, architects, owners, and facility managers to identify the current and future needs of the spectator seating market. These needs are brought to the dedicated product development team. This team develops an initial concept and takes it all the way through prototyping, testing, and iteration to ensure the final product is strong and stylish. Recent additions to our catalog such as the AURA Stadium Chair, VISION Platform Chair, and ODYSSEY Auditorium Chair are prime examples of Interkal’s dedication to moving the industry into the future.
